So, if you listen to yesterday's episode, I said there was a big announcement coming, and this is that announcement.

0:08.0

It's something that I've spent the last several months thinking about, talked a lot about it with the team at the brew, and now is the right time.

0:21.0

Now I'm just talking to keep the cliffhanger going. I promise I'll tell you in a second what this announcement is.

0:28.0

All I know is, I'm excited for this journey, and I'm excited to do this journey with you guys.

0:35.0

And so, without further ado, let me make the quick announcement. Add drama with the drumbeat.

0:40.0

I don't know if you can even hear that, and now my dog is barking because he heard me bang on the desk. That backfired.

0:49.0

Founders Journal is back. The crazy ones, as it was formally known, is being rebranded into Founders Journal.

0:56.0

It's the rebrand to the rebrand, because it says, originally Founders Journal for you listeners who have been part of this journey for the last several years.

1:04.0

Founders Journal was my original entrepreneurship show, and just to tell you kind of how this all started.

1:13.0

It was during the pandemic, I had a fair bit of free time, and I'd always wanted to get into the habit of journaling, like writing in a journal every morning.

1:22.0

And for whatever reason, I could just never build that habit. I would do it for a few days, and then I would just stop the habit.

1:29.0

It never was ingrained in my daily behavior.

1:32.0

I said to myself, one day, what if I record myself doing a journal, and I publish it to the world, because then I'm held accountable to delivering content on an expected schedule to people, and maybe that form of accountability, like a gym trainer or a nutritionist, will make me feel horrible if I don't deliver, and so I'll always deliver.

1:53.0

And so I did about 300 episodes of Founders Journal, and it was the best.

1:59.0

This show was all about five to 20-minute journal-style monologues, just me stepping up to the mic, preparing based on, honestly, what is the most interesting, important shit happening to me as an entrepreneur or a founder.

2:15.0

And these topics that I covered with Founders Journal range from the lessons I learned from my dad's passing, when I was a junior in college, to what the process of selling Morning Brew was like, to how we got our first 100,000 and 10,000 subscribers as a business, to how I think about my journey after Morning Brew and what I want to do as an entrepreneur.

2:39.0

All the way to interesting business books that I'm reading, that you may not want to spend 50 hours reading, and I can break down the most important lessons for you.

2:48.0

And I stopped Founders Journal at some point, because I stepped down from my role as CEO of Morning Brew in April of 2021, and for the next, I would say probably a year.

2:59.0

I honestly wasn't doing very much. I was in some ways like, mourning the loss of my role, because running the business was my identity for so long, and when I lost that sense of identity, I lost what felt like myself.

3:15.0

I really had to reflect on, who is Alex Lieberman? What is the value I bring to the world? What do I want to do with my life moving forward?

3:23.0

And so that's why there was a hiatus with Founders Journal for a while. And then we had started the crazy ones back up, which was an awesome show.

3:32.0

I love my co-hosts, Jesse Puggi and Sophia and Maruso. They were amazing. But what I've realized over time is that I always loved Founders Journal.
