Hey everybody, this is Ruth. And this is Troy.

0:08.1

Welcome to the Foundations podcast. Well, this is our final episode of the season, and we've got

0:13.2

some fantastic stuff we're going to go through today. We really want to send you off with great

0:17.7

encouragement. So join us. Let's get to it.

0:30.9

Okay, friends, so our time on this season has come to the end. Now, it may not be the end of the podcast. We're still praying about another season. And thanks for those of you who

0:36.0

weighed in and shared with us and said,

0:38.2

we want to hear about all these topics. And so we're praying about it, right, babe?

0:42.1

Yes, we are. We'll be praying about this. And hopefully, reconnect with you all in another

0:48.5

season of Foundations podcast. But here we are on Foundation 12. This week, we end on Strive in Grace. If you are following along

0:57.3

in Foundation's book, I hope it's been a good and fruitful journey for you. This is our final

1:03.2

foundation in the Foundation's book. It's called Strive in Grace. And it's based on Philippians

1:08.4

129, for it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ,

1:14.3

you should not only believe in him, but also suffer for his sake. It's not a coincidence that we

1:20.6

would end this collection of foundations on this one, in strive in grace. Troy, let's talk about

1:27.1

why we chose to end on this foundation. You know, when you look at kind of where we've come from, and you go back through the 12 foundations, I know that for me writing it, and it was really just a reflection of my long journey of faith, and I know this to be the case with you too, that, you know, the imperatives of God's

1:44.5

word, the things that he tells us to do, the person that he wants us to be, is really an impossibility. You know, if you sit down and you read the sermon on the Mount, and you think, and we saw that, we saw that hillside, right? Where Jesus, you know, would have preached to the, to the multitudes, an amazing place there in Israel.

1:42.5

Just thinking through the things that he said. And it's like, there's part of us that resonates with like, yes, that I want to be that person. But in the middle of the striving for that, it's like, oh, this is impossible. This can't be done. Like, you know, how many days do you start well and you end in the dust?

2:19.4

You know, you want to start with the eagles and you find yourself, you know, pecking seeds on the ground with the pigeons.

2:24.7

And I feel like that is my whole spiritual journey. Well, and the thing is it's actually, it would be actually so much easier if it had been strive in diligence, strive in more

2:36.8

self-control, strive in a better schedule. You know, any of those things would have felt

2:42.3

easier for the, for most of us, we would say, oh, what I need is more diligence. What I need

2:48.0

is a better schedule. What I need is to strive to be the best parent
