Summary

Join us on Skin Anarchy as Dr. Ekta Yadav sits down with Theresa Plavoukos, founder of Fat Mermaid, for a deep dive into beauty that begins from within. With over 25 years of experience spanning L’Oréal, Estée Lauder, and luxury fragrance development, Theresa shares how her extensive background in product innovation inspired her to create a collagen supplement that’s as fun as it is effective.

Discover the science behind liquid marine collagen—the most bioavailable form for hair, skin, and nail health. Theresa explains how its low molecular weight allows for quick absorption and superior efficacy compared to traditional powders or bovine formulas. The result: visible improvements in skin glow and hair strength without the guesswork or mess.

The brand’s playful name, Fat Mermaid, reflects its philosophy: lush, vibrant beauty fueled by nutrient-rich support. Behind the whimsical branding is serious science, with every batch produced in FDA-inspected, GMP-certified facilities and third-party tested for purity and amino acid transparency.

Designed for real life, Fat Mermaid’s collagen is unflavored, versatile, and easy to use. Whether you add it to coffee, smoothies, or take it as a one-ounce shot, its built-in dosing cup ensures the perfect clinically recommended amount every time.

This episode is your insider look at how Theresa merges rigorous clinical standards with approachable, joyful design—proving that inner beauty can be both efficacious and delightful. Tune in to hear how Fat Mermaid is making bioavailable beauty effortless and inspiring.

Hey guys, welcome back to Skin Anarchy. Today's episode is going to be so special because I am hosting a brand that I have absolutely fallen in love with. I think when it comes to the supplement world, I am extremely picky with what I choose for myself as a consumer. And so I've really fallen in love with this brand. And I think a lot of you, if you have tried it, relate. But without further ado, I want to introduce you guys the founder of Fat Mermaid, Teresa Palvukas. Welcome. Teresa, I'm so excited to host you. Hi, Ecta. Nice to meet you. Glad to be with you. I'm excited to host you, Teresa, because I've literally been using Fat Mermaid now for, I think, more than a month. And I've absolutely

0:37.6

fall in love with what you've created. And I can't wait to learn more about you, if you don't

0:42.7

mind walking us down memory lane. And you have such a phenomenal background. And it's so

0:47.5

impressive work you've done in the beauty industry with over 25 years of experience. So

0:52.9

walk us down memory lane. How did you get involved with

0:55.5

wanting to create your own thing? So nice. Thank you. All right. I want to spend too much time

0:59.9

my history because it could just go back quite a bit. But I started in advertising working on the

1:04.8

L'Oreal account, which got me really into beauty and just the whole beauty space. And other than

1:10.7

about one year in my career,

1:12.2

I never left beauty. So beauty is my thing. I love it. I think it's so fun in developing

1:17.2

products that make people feel better. So started in advertising, the big chunks of my career

1:22.5

were really a big strategic companies like L'Oreal and Estee Lauder. And that's where I learned how to do

1:30.0

beauty. I still say what would L'Oreal do in certain situations because they really created the

1:34.9

playbook, as did Lodder. So at L'Oreal, I was working on Mabelene and I ran the global

1:40.3

eye business. So that was great lash, pink and green mascara, liners, shadows, brow. That was for a few

1:47.7

years. So that was literally working with the lab, coming up with all the new products,

1:51.9

and then flying around to all the markets in the world and saying, this is what we're launching,

1:55.8

here's how it works. So working hand in hand with our own chemist was what really lit me up. So then the same for

2:03.0

Lauder. I actually went over there and I was working in the beauty bank division, which was,

2:07.9

I don't know if you remember, we were building out the Cole's beauty department. I started with

2:12.5

internet, but then I ended up working on brands. I worked on a brand called flirt and a brand called

2:16.7

American Beauty,
