I'm Gianna Jalosi with your Fox True Crime Minute. A former college soccer star has been charged

with murdering his younger brother and pet cat

in their luxury apartment near Princeton University. Police say 31-year-old Matthew Hurtkin

called 911 to report a fire and a dead body in the New Jersey apartment over the weekend.

When officers arrived, they found the bloodied corpse of Matthew's 26-year-old brother Joseph

and pinned the crime on Matthew.

Prosecutors say Joseph's body showed blunt force trauma and lacerations,

alleging Matthew used a knife in a golf club to attack his brother.

But the cause and manner of death are pending results from an autopsy.

Both brothers played soccer at Tom's River North High School and played in college,

Joseph for the University of Michigan, and Matthew for Wesleyan University in Connecticut.

Authorities charged Matthew with first-degree murder, weapons offenses, and animal cruelty.

There's no information on how the cat died.
