Most people know Henry Ford as the founder of the Ford Motor Company and the

originator of the Assembly line, but Ford was also a master motivator.

One day Ford marched out onto the factory floor

carrying a big can of paint. He walked to the middle of the factory floor where

he proceeded to paint a large number six on the floor. When the night workers came in, they asked what it meant.

Ford told them that it was the number of cars the day crew had built.

The next morning, Ford came in to learn that the night crew had built seven cars.

Ford then marched back out to the center of the factory floor

and painted a big number seven over the six that had been there before.

When the day crew came in, they asked about it. He told them that was how many cars the night crew had built.

By playing the day crew off the night crew he was able to substantially increase the productivity of his factory.

What Henry Ford understood about our human nature is, we love games, we love to compete,

we love to see the score, we love to see the evidence of our progress, we love to see the score. We love to see the evidence of our progress. We love to see the results of our

hard work. Gamifications like this are great to inspire, focus, efficiency, engagement, productivity, and effectiveness, as well as stimulate

fun and deliver personal fulfillment.

This can work in any industry and any type of company or organization where two or more humans exist,
