Hello, hello. If you've ever wanted a podcast to sound like a phone call with a friend,

this is that. I'm calling you to say I'm on holiday right now. And yes, I know, separate work and

vacation, but I at least wanted to say hi. Okay. I don't know if I can give you a full episode

this week. But I wanted to take a little moment, I don't know if I can give you a full episode this

week, but I wanted to take a little moment, carve out of my day. It's the first day I got here

and say hi. And also share. You know, I want to talk about this trip a little bit. It's so strange.

Me even being here, I'm so grateful for it, but it unfolded incredibly unexpectedly. I was out to dinner with a friend

and she said that she was booked for a job in Hawaii, threw it out there. Hey, I have a hotel

room. If anyone wants to come, it overlaps with my birthday. We can celebrate, be in Hawaii. I don't

need this whole room to myself. And I thought about it. And you know what? Why not? So here I am

on a balcony in a hotel in Hawaii overlooking the

ocean right now I'm sitting outside you might be able to hear little sounds of the birds in the

background maybe people passing by I love recording outside it's a little bit distracting it's my

favorite place to be I'd much prefer to be outside than inside But when it comes to technology, sometimes just a bit more efficient, there's a lot more that you can control when you're inside.

But there's something beautiful to being outside.

I don't know.

So I'm here for my friend's birthday.

My dad and his siblings grew up here.

My grandparents only lived here for a handful of years of their life. But I want to go see their old house while I'm here. I'd love to go maybe eat at one of their favorite restaurants while I'm here. Want to honor them, make it feel like I'm with them a little bit because the last time I was in Hawaii was with my grandma and my cousin Morgan. And my grandma passed over the holidays holidays and if I give myself a second it'll make

me sad to think that I wish I was here with her even though she was a pain in the ass Lola if you're

listening to this while she was here she was thrown a fit the whole time and Morgan and I were like okay

well we're going to enjoy Hawaii but that's just what it is to have a diva in your life.
