0:12.1	I think sometimes it's easy to wonder if you've done enough to earn God's love or if you've gone too far to even receive it in the first place.
0:23.2	That's a human emotion and thought pattern that I think a lot of people have, but it's so
0:29.0	far from the heart of the gospel message. And so in this part of John's gospel, we're going to
0:36.0	see that Jesus speaks very clearly about why he came,
0:40.0	what exactly he offers, and how deep God's love really is.
0:45.7	These words that we're setting today are words that have comforted people for generations,
0:51.0	and they still have power for you today. See, Jesus is not speaking to a theoretical
0:58.3	audience. He's speaking to you. His words are not about earning his love or achieving something.
1:09.6	They're about the heart of God reaching toward your heart,
1:13.8	drawing you into relationship,
1:15.3	offering you eternal life,
1:17.0	and inviting you to trust him
1:20.1	and realizing that that does not depend on your perfection.
1:25.9	It actually depends on his. And so we're going to read John 3, 13 through 21.
1:33.3	I'm reading from the NASB version, starting at verse 13. No one has ascended into heaven,
1:40.6	except he who descended from heaven, the son of man. Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,
1:48.5	so must the son of man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes will have eternal life in him.
1:55.6	For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish
2:03.5	but have eternal life for god did not send the sun into the world to judge the world but so that
2:11.6	the world might be saved through him the one who believes in him is not judged. The one who does not believe has been
