This was clearly one of those football games that have happened early in the season,

maybe in September or a couple of weeks in October. You'd say it was a teachable moment for the Kansas City Chiefs. You would say, well, they have some shortcomings, some things to sew up, some things to fix. But hey, listen, they had a 17-point lead. They won on the road. They beat a Bill Belichick defense that was frustrating Travis Kelsey all day. There's a lot to look at

and say, okay, there's something to build on here. When there's only three games left in the regular

season, and we saw the same problems out of the Chiefs that we've seen all year, of course, that's

reason for a fan base and critics of the Chiefs to hit the panic button and say this team is going

nowhere. They're dead. It's over.

I truly understand both sides at this point. I expected the Chiefs to play a cleaner game.

Mahomes threw a pretty dumb interception early in this game. He and Andy Reed had quite a,

it was not a heated exchange, but it clearly was businesslike. I believe what Andy said right there was,

Patrick, he had one job coming here. We talked about it all week. Don't turn it over. The Chiefs

were going to beat the New England Patriots if they didn't turn the ball over. Then they go out

and turn over twice. After having built a big lead, they allow New England sort of to have some

life to come back into

this thing after Cadarious Tony bobbles inexplicably a ball. It wasn't even a drop. A drop

would have been fine. We'd love a drop. What we don't like is a juggling act trying to catch it

across the middle with defenders all over the place. It turns into an easy interception and then a quick touchdown.

The Chiefs allowing that to happen made this a game where they had to move the ball late,

convert a couple of third downs, wound up taking a knee.

New England would get it back, whatever.
