I was in school and high school and he said, what are you going to do?

And I said, I won't be a cop. You need to go to school.

So I went to school. I went to A back.

You know, back then looking back on it, I want to be like Mike.

I'm always wanting to tell Mike, thank you face to face.

He didn't realize what he did.

He didn't realize that he was making a difference in somebody, but he did.

And you know, all these years later, almost 30 years later, I retire.

I owe a 36 year career to him because he kept me straight.

He gave me the desire to go and be what I wanted to do and I appreciate it.

I'm Shane Edmondson. I'm the police chief for the City of Douglas Police Department.

I'm the police for 25 and a half years with the City of Swany.

The City of Limits for Swany is about a mile from where the homicide occurred.

And growing up and law enforcement and going out, I always heard the stories of the DNA on the

rain jacket that was hurting DNA. Somebody, positively, I did Mike as the one standing beside

the vehicle. Mike had money that matched the serial numbers to the money that she had.

Over the years, the things I had heard, I was convinced Mike did this.

I was convinced Mike did this, but she never really heard about him being the fire station.

You never heard that the DNA was never tested. You never heard that they didn't pick him out

of a phone line up as the one being on the scene. They actually picked him out of a phone line
