My neighborhood growing up over and out to Cad County,

and our neighborhood, you know, middle class,

you either became a public servant or you became a bad guy.

And the more public servants came out of the neighborhood,

and bad guys, fortunately.

When I was in the Marines, it was a quiet time

and the world and nothing much was happening,

and it just wasn't that exciting.

Police work was a chance to take care of that service gene,

that dreaded service gene I was able to own.

To do something and make a difference.

For a while, there was working.

I loved it.

Makes my wife crazy because she knows that things were,

I would still do it today, if possible,

and I know it's never going to happen.

But I would still do it as how much I believe in the job.

Being able to stand back guard between the bad guys

and the innocent being the sheep dog, you know.

It was so rewarding just to be able to stand up and be a bad guard.
