Once upon a time there was a little fairy named Suki, who grew up in the town of Bath.

In Great Britain, he saw his world change through the impact of Stonewall and the rise of the modern gay rights movement,

the AIDS crisis, and the rule of the Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher. Then, at the age of 40,

St. Suki moved to Chicago to be a journalist for LGBTQ publications and became a legend

after introducing himself as a vampire, fairy, pirate, and Viking. In his new book, The Memoir of a

Groucho Marxist, a very British fairy tale, St. Suki

de la Croix takes us on a magical realist journey through his childhood, growing up near Stonehenge

in a world that also gave rise to Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and The Hobbit.

Today, St. Suki de la Croix, the artist formerly known as Daryl Michael Vincent,

finally lifts the veil on his mysterious persona and tells us of his early upbringing

in a working-class family in post-World War II England.
