I think it would be a real mistake to not read this election as an endorsement of Democrats' decision for the first time

to fight in the last four weeks.

At the end of the week, Washington empties out fast.

Lawmakers, staffers, they're all heading home.

Jake Sherman still. We are on day 37 of the government shutdown.

This is now the longest shutdown in U.S. history.

It is.

And I don't, the answers, I don't know if it has signs of ending.

Democrats are clearly talking about a structure in which they would open the government

alongside a three-bill package,

which would be three relatively non-controversial spending bills,

and then they would get a vote on the Obamacare subsidy issue in the Senate.

Mike Johnson is not guaranteeing of, sure, no, equal with the same bow in the House.

He's been pretty clear on that. Could that change? Sure. Anything could change in this, in this world. This is the deal. I'll say this and I'll kick it to you, Anna. This is basically the deal John Foon offered them a month ago. Sure. Not a month ago. And we're here on October 6th and no, it's November 6th.

We're here on November 6th and that's where we're landing. That is why we have a great guest today to talk the situation in the Senate. We've got Democratic Senator Chris Murphy in the

townhouse today. The Connecticut Senator wants to keep up the fight as the show showdown drags on, would be very interesting to press him on that because clearly there are some of his colleagues who are ready for this to end. I think he is, his voice carries a lot of weight. He's a leading progressive, someone who has become more and more prominent in recent years. We also have two brilliant reporters in the House of for the panel. We've got Paul Kane, senior congressional correspondent for The Washington Post. Known him for a long time. PK, he's an institution in and of himself, as well as New York Times congressional correspondent, Katie Eminson, who's going to be sharing what she has been hearing in the halls.
