So, a Florida judge just told Governor Ron DeSantis, in substance, to go pound sand, ruling

that DeSantis cannot stop schools from requiring students to wear masks to keep them safe.

And I'm going to go out on a limb and say, that's a good thing.

Because the safety of our children, like justice, matters.

So it took a court order from a Florida judge to tell Governor Ron DeSantis, in substance,

you can't keep endangering Florida's children.

Here's the breaking story from the New York Times.

Headline, Florida court rejects efforts by Governor Ron DeSantis to ban mask mandates.

A Florida court on Friday rejected an effort by Governor Ron DeSantis and other state officials

to prevent mask mandates in schools during the state's worst COVID-19 outbreak yet.

Judge John C. Cooper of the state's second judicial circuit said that Florida school districts

may impose strict mask mandates on students to curb the spread of the coronavirus, handing

a defeat to Governor DeSantis whose administration had vehemently insisted on leaving masking

decisions to children's parents.

You know, in the court hearings leading up to this judge's opinion, the parents who were

trying to protect their children, argued that Florida's constitution required keeping

children safe and secure at school.

And the judge agreed.

And not only did Judge Cooper rule against DeSantis's mask mandate ban, but Judge Cooper

issued an injunction blocking the state from punishing school boards for trying to protect

children.
