Summary

I’m joined by Benjamin Camras, Flirt Coach and host of Flirtations!, to talk all things flirting—how to build real chemistry, flirt without the ick, and actually know when someone’s into you. We answer your questions about navigating workplace crushes, why great text chemistry can fall flat in person, what it means when you keep getting the “just friends” response, and how to flirt with confidence (even if you’re socially anxious). Whether you love flirting or dread it, this episode has something for you.

Okay, this is going to be such a fun one.

We are here reunited, Benjamin the flirt coach, and oh, I can't speak today, and host of flirtations.

0:17.3

This would be, would you say this is bad flirting on my part if I mess up my introduction.

0:22.3

Not at all, Alana. Thank you for having me on seeing other people. This is me, you know, I can, I can meet you with this. Like, you know what? Because I have had those moments to where like your tongue gets caught in your throat or you get tripped up in your words a little bit. So I'd be like, you know what, I've been there. I've been there. We're going to do this.

0:38.7

I love that. Thank you. It's funny. I leave most like small talk conversations. Like if I pass like my neighbors or someone who my dog has played with their dog at the park and we're on the street and we pass each other. I walk away from those conversations being like, if they knew what I did for a living,

0:55.1

like they just wouldn't believe that I talk to people for a living on a microphone because

0:59.7

of how poorly that interaction went. I have that experience sometimes too. But as we're going to

1:04.8

be getting into so many different flirting things and questions today, I hear from flurtees,

1:10.8

listeners, right, daters all the time, flurters,

1:13.4

that it's like, oh, I don't want to be weird or awkward or what if I say the wrong thing? And I'm like,

1:18.7

oh, my God, do all of those things, please. Yep, exactly. Being weird and awkward is like what

1:24.0

connects us all as humans. Yes. Yes. Absolutely. Okay.

1:34.8

So before we get into it, how did you end up, you know, kind of building a career around the art of flirting?

1:42.2

Like, why did you become a flirt coach?

1:43.9

Because I imagine, you know, you weren't sitting there in middle school or an elementary school or high school, even, being like, I'm going to be a flirt coach when I grow up. Not at all. And I mean, honestly, I made it up. I say, Dululu is a salulu. Follow a little bit of that delusion. I'm just delusional enough to believe that this is possible

2:02.0

and I can do it. And I have been doing it. Like I remember I was getting into coaching a few years

2:08.2

ago, which is such an crazy profession in its own right. Never imagine I'd even be in coach.

2:14.8

I had a whole nine to five before this and then was very much in that millennial phase, mid-30s, what's next? What am I doing with my life? I am looking around all this whole life. I thought I wanted that I built for myself. No, I don't want any of it. So what is coming next? I started to explore coaching and just see what that was. Could this be

2:36.0

a career for me? Was I even be good at it? Would I like it? How does this work? I think, you know,

2:41.9

so many people call themselves coaches and life coaches. And the industry gets a little bit of a bad

2:48.3

rap sometimes. But as like a skill and as a way just to help people
