The topic today is fleeing and pursuing. Fleeing and pursuing. These are both actions we should be familiar with in the Christian life. Let's begin with

2 Timothy 222, which uses both these words, flee also, youthful lust, but pursue righteousness,

faith, love, peace with those who call in the Lord out of a pure heart.

This verse uses both words.

To flee is to run away from a potential danger.

It is not a casual stroll.

It implies running for your life, not quietly strolling, but running away as fast as you can.

What does Timothy tell us to run away from?

that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works which they observe

glorify God in the day of visitation. Youthful lust and fleshly lust war against our souls.

And in 2 Timothy, it says flee, youthful lust.

We are not to debate them, discuss the situation with them, and we are certainly not to make friends with them.

We are to flee. This is warfare, not a stroll in the park.
