Summary

The Corinthian church had a serious problem with sexual immorality to the point that they were no longer even ashamed, but proud of it. Sadly, not much has changed since Paul had to confront them with the urgent command to “flee fornication” in 1 Corinthians 6:18. As we see why sexual immorality is so destructive, we discover how we can put Paul’s charge into action ourselves and how mercy and forgiveness can be found in the midst of sin.

Hey, let's get to it. First Corinthians chapter six. One of the things that when you come to this

0:07.4

fellowship, this church, that you should know right out of the gate is we do give high priority to the

0:12.9

Bible, to God's word. We believe this is the perfect word of God. And I know not everybody agrees

0:18.1

with that. But what you need to know is kind of, I believe it's

0:23.0

never served us wrong to really take the Bible literally and to have a biblical worldview. And I know

0:28.7

that goes contrary to a lot of people and the way they think. But I would just humbly suggest and

0:34.9

have you look at the things that we've done in society that have gone contrary

0:41.2

to the Bible, how's that working out for us? Because if you look at it carefully, what you'll see is

0:46.9

a lot of messes and troubles and even sickness and disease and problems that we've almost created for ourselves, but we don't want to

0:55.6

admit that. Meanwhile, the Bible has been all along telling us, here's how you are to live.

1:02.2

Here's what's right, and here's what's wrong. And a lot of the world says, yeah, whatever.

1:08.2

And we can do that. But I kind of sometimes in my own life, when I've been rebellious against the Word of God, it reminds me of when I was three years old and my parents wouldn't let me play with a sharp knife. And I'd say, I want to play with it. And my mom or dad would say, you can't. And they take it away from me. But I want it. But anybody who has a half a brain knows you don't let a three-year-old play with a sharp

1:30.2

snake knife.

1:31.3

It's a bad idea.

1:33.4

But in the same way as we grow into adulthood, there's things that we say, yeah, whatever, God,

1:38.5

and we do our own thing.

1:40.6

And I'm just going to say, boy, that's never served me well to go against the Word of God.

1:45.0

And, you know, we all have our sins and our struggles and our things.

1:48.6

But today, Paul is going to deal with a topic with the Corinthian Church that's a big problem.

1:54.2

In the Corinthian Church, it's a big problem in the modern day church today and in our culture today.

1:59.1

And it has to do, shockingly, with sexuality.

2:03.5

And it has to do with just a basic view of what the Bible says. Let's take a look. It's 1st
