A New Hampshire cold case murder solved half a century after the crime.

The person responsible?

The prime suspect all along who walked free because of a botched FBI report.

22-year-old Judith Lord was found dead inside her Concord apartment.

May 20th, 1975, months after moving in with her husband and baby, a building manager found her dead in a bed upstairs, her infant son, alive in his

crib in the next room. An autopsy showed Lord died of homicidal strangulation. She had also been sexually

assaulted. After clearing her husband, who had recently moved out after assaulting her,

investigators eyed Lord's neighbor, Ernest Theodore Gable, who was 24 at the time. But a flawed FBI hair analysis incorrectly excluded Gable as a suspect, even though his fingerprints were found at the scene and witnesses said Lord feared him. Gable was never charged and died in 1987. He was stabbed in Los Angeles. The Attorney General said if you were

still alive, he'd be facing a first degree murder charge. There's more on this story at
