Marianna moved from Venezuela at 13 with her family eager to learn English. Unfortunately, the school district they moved into didn't have a great ESOL program, so she spent most of 6th, 7th and 8th grade watching movies and being taught in Spanish instead of learning English. Fortunately, she had great teachers in High School. This made her excel even pursue other languages in her college career. Instead of pursuing her intended path to take law, she went on to teach English and instill the things she would have wanted for herself as a young English learner to her students.
