Good evening, children. It's Granny McDuff, ready with a story. So make yourselves comfy, and I'll begin.

Once upon a time, there lived five peas in one pod. The peas were green, and the pod was green, so they thought the world was green.

And right they were.

As the pod grew, the peas grew.

They stayed in a straight line and were always quite comfortable.

The sun warmed the pod and made it quite cozy inside, and the rain cleaned it and fed them.

It was bright in the daytime and dark in the night.

They grew larger and more thoughtful as the days passed.

But they still quite enjoyed it until one day.

They began to wonder if there wasn't something they should be doing.

Shall we always be here, sitting idle?

One asked.

It seems to me there must be something out there for us.

Weeks passed and the pod began to turn yellow.

And so the peas began to turn yellow.

The world is changing, they cried.

Then the pod moved.

Something jerked it and it came loose from the stem the peas were secure in the pod as it was

carried away and dropped into a boy's pocket with other pods now we will see what is

outside they cried the smallest pea remarked I would we will see what is outside. They cried.

The smallest pea remarked.

I would like to see which one of us goes the furthest.
