I received an email from a listener named Joey, and he said, my family and I have been doing regular family devotions for years now.

I can't even remember when we started.

It felt a bit awkward to begin with, but our consistency over time has truly baked it into the fabric of our home life.

To give you an idea of its impact, my children actually get upset and feel thrown off if we miss a day,

which shows how much they value it. Our routine is quite simple. We slowly work our way through Kevin DeYoung's The Biggest Story, Children's Bible.

To make sure they're engaged, I ask each kid to tell me one thing they heard from the reading.

If they can, they earn a little extra TV time.

After that, I offer a brief explanation of the text, and then we pray.

The ages of the kids in this are 642, and Joey and his wife have one on the way.

So that's just a sweet story.
