I'm going to start with a plea for help.

I have a rather large problem, as you may well have gathered over recent months

and years, but particularly this week. I strain, as you know, for analogies that somehow

managed to straddle the sublime and the ridiculous. And I think that I find myself now,

almost every day, looking at something in the news, something

that is actually happening and noting that it is something that you were promised wouldn't

happen or indeed it is the polar opposite of what you promised would happen. And yet not only

do you profess not to care about it or not to have noticed,

but also that you still really love the people who misled you.
