And it's about making sure that no one is above the law.

The guy's a serial fraudster, and he's a serial for us to the tune of, you know, in excess $100 million.

I'm Preet Barara.

I'm a former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Basically, I was the head federal prosecutor in Manhattan.

My office went after terrorists and mobsters, insider traders, and crooked politicians.

Really to simplify it, they wanted to grease the rail and the common way of doing that is

to bribe a public official to keep them in their corner. We investigated massive crimes

using every tool we had, subpoenas, informants, sting operations, and wiretaps, like this one.

You can't talk normally, because it's like freak of horror is listening to every phone call.

Here's the thing. The legal system doesn't do justice. People do and people aren't perfect. We have blind spots and biases and

drawing the line between what's just wrong and what's illegal. It's tricky business.

People don't just wake up and then commit a crime and think it's okay. It's never that simple.

The story is complicated, your life is complicated, you're complicated. I get all that.
