Welcome to fine tuning with Drew Taylor, your one-stop shop what it comes to animation news and

commentary. Drew and I are recording this week's show on Monday, October 31st, 2020, Halloween.

I'm going to treat myself to Wendell and the Wild when Drew and I finish recording today's show.

That became available for streaming this past Friday, October 28th. I had its world premiere

at the Toronto Animation Festival back on September 11th and then a limited theatrical release

just last week starting in the 21st. Drew so far, it's gotten a largely positive response.

I was just looking over at Rotten Tomatoes, so we have an 80% freshness, so what a 73,

audience score, main complaint seems to be kind of a loose plot, but you enjoyed it, right?

I did enjoy it. I mean, I think that you'll enjoy it for the same reasons I did Jim that it's

just wonderful to be back in Henry Selix delightfully bonkers world and I think that

Jordan and Michael do a great job and you know it's just it's fun to be there. It is definitely a

loose plot. I don't think it totally gels and also from what we understood doing the press days

and things. There was a fairly 11th hour editorial revision, which I think you can feel a little bit,

but all that said, I am just so thrilled that this movie exists and that we get to enjoy it,

and that you get to watch it on Halloween Jim. I mean, it's just absolutely perfect for that.

But Drew has effectively doubled dipped this week because you got to see a Gamma Del Toro's Pinocchio,

right? I did, I did. And you were just teasing me about the Q&A after where you got to hear

Germo and Phil Tippet? I did. Yeah, they were they were in conversation. It was actually at the

animation is Film Festival, which is just a wonderful event. We should really try to cover that

next year in depth, okay? Because it really is a wonderful event in LA. And yes, ran into so many

fun people there. Jorge Gutierrez was there from Mayan III and just a lot of fun animation people

who we love. So, cool, cool. But I will talk all about that in the second half of the show.
