Summary

This is another one of our well-known mindset episodes for how to think about investing. Kirk and Doug rip apart some commonly "known" principals of investing that you see everyday in the investing community.

If you didn't know any better you would think the investing community was a bunch of fortune telling gypsies. Maybe they are... It would explain all the tarot cards I found laying around in the CNBC greenroom.

Join us this week to hear us once again give you a peek behind the curtain.

What's the tip of the week? Well, I think the tip of the week is going to be, doesn't apply to a ton of people out there, but if it does

0:43.4

apply to you, lucky for you. It's dealing with restricted stock units and the taxation thereof.

There's some discussion. People say, why do I have to pay twice on my taxes it double tax and it isn't

0:57.8

true but to simplify it there are two ways it gets taxed one when it comes in it becomes vested that

1:06.6

becomes it's included in your w2 at that. You don't really have to worry about that.

1:12.6

do anything, you're good to go. Nothing's going to happen. Then the next event occurs is when

1:25.3

you sell that RSU. I don't want to get into details on that, but try to go

1:30.8

long term on that. And it's two years from when it invests and one year from when you get it.

1:35.5

So go long term on that. And then when that comes through, normally that gets that transaction,

1:43.9

that sale transaction, gets executed

1:47.5

through the broker that is selected by the company to take care of their stock purchase
