time chatting with Peter Michael Bauer. If you're not familiar with Peter's work, he's one of the

main catalysts in the rewilding movement here in North America. He primarily focuses on the social

and environmental impacts of the Neolithic Revolution and how this understanding can provide us with solutions

during the current mass extinction. We chat a bit about what our role is, especially as white

folks here in North America, and trying to balance being more in tune with nature without

appropriation. It's a challenging conversation, and it ends up being a two-part episode because of this reason.

Hey, Peter, thanks for taking some time to chat.

For our listeners who might not be aware of your work, could you tell us a little bit about

yourself?

Yeah, well, thanks for having me on. My name's Peter Michael Bauer. I call myself a rewilding

catalyst, and that's just because I've been hopefully inspiring people to do what I call or refer

to as rewilding for around 20 years now. And obviously there's a lot of different meanings around

the word rewiling now that didn't exist

20 years ago when I started using the word. And so part of my work is in clarifying what that

meaning is. And I have a nonprofit that I started called Rewild Portland. And we teach ancestral

skills as well as like philosophy, anthropology. We teach reciprocity with plants and growing things, kind of like a mixture of traditional
