(5:30) She grew up farm-to-table, but in her 20s she started following the “low fat” movement and also became a vegetarian. Her decline started after a series of small falls. Her executive function was failing as well. They discuss Dupuytren's contracture. (20:00) It’s an affliction of the tendons, typically in the hands. Parkinson’s is another disease that Mimi has had to contend with. (35:00) Medications only mask symptoms, but they also compete with nutrients like protein. She was told diet doesn’t make a difference, and she kept getting sicker. She had an “aha moment” and decided to try something different. (42:00) A chiropractor she consulted with suggested a high-fat diet. Her symptoms radically improved and she has titrated off her medications.
