Summary

In this episode of the Self Helpful show we continue the discussion on Jordan Grumet and his book, Taking Stock: A Hospice Doctor's Advice on Financial Independence, Building Wealth, and Living a Regret-Free Life. Here I bring in Tom Ziglar to get his take on it. Tom is Zig Ziglar’s son, CEO of Ziglar, Inc, author and in demand speaker. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣We began discussing the change Jordan cites when people get an end of life diagnosis and the immediate shift he sees from their protective selves and stories and the transition to possibility and meaning. If you were told you just had months to live, you'd likely seek to repair relationships. We don't today, in having faith we have plenty of time, because we don't want to be that vulnerable. Which again, points back to how we primarily live to protect ourselves. Tom and I then get into Jordan's perspective on flattening or flipping Maslow's hierarchy of need and when we start with self-actualization, everything else becomes far easier, as we know what we want and why, which is much the focus of my book, What Drives You. This lands us on the necessity, if you want an abundant and inspired life, of finding meaning in what you do. ⁣ ⁣ The Self-Help(ful) podcast is brought to you by Ziglar, your premier source for equipping coaches to help leaders and top performers excel professionally and personally.
