Welcome to the Black Girl Burnout podcast. Kelly here. And today I want to talk about how to find joy when facing the unknown. If you're like me, maybe this year has been filled with a lot of

0:23.2

uncertainty. Maybe it's not gone the way you planned it or maybe it's not a bad year, but it feels

0:29.4

chaotic or you feel like you're trying to play catch up or so many things are happening at

0:34.3

once. You're kind of overwhelmed. No matter where you find yourself,

0:38.6

whether this year has been challenging or maybe your heart's hurting because of the state of the

0:43.6

world in general and the chaos that lies there, or maybe you're just trying to keep your

1:30.1

planning, thinking, trying to pivot, strategize. It is a skill I'm proud of, but it also can be my own

1:40.2

kind of fatal flaw. When you're unable to live in the moment, you miss out. And I find myself

1:46.0

constantly living on fast forward and having to remind myself daily to pull back and stay where I am.

1:54.9

And when you live a life like that or when you have a struggle like that, your worst enemy is not knowing what happens next.

2:03.8

I have long since lived in terror of the dreaded unknown.

2:08.1

And it wasn't until I started on this journey to opting out that I made more peace with

2:13.1

just not knowing, surrendering.

2:15.6

If you've noticed, I've talked a lot in the last few months about

2:18.5

when to surrender, the power of surrender, letting go. All of that really is about facing the

2:27.3

unknown and meeting it with softness and meeting it at times with joy even. And so I want us to think about how we can infuse joy,
