| 0:27.0 | Welcome to before breakfast, a production of iHeart radio. Good morning. This is Laura. Welcome to the before breakfast podcast. Today's tip is to find a better word. |
| 0:51.0 | When you choose the right word, that word can do more heavy lifting than if you go with the first word you think of. |
| 1:01.0 | This week I am sharing some of my favorite writing tips. Even if you don't write for a living, you might write reports or emails or articles for industry publications. |

| 3:05.0 | That's because the dictionary is trying to help you find the precise meaning of something. |
| 3:11.0 | So the various words suggested or mentioned are more likely to be close to the meaning you desire. |
| 3:18.0 | It doesn't take long to do this and you don't have to do it for every word. |
| 3:23.0 | But whenever you see a word in your writing that feels tired or imprecise or cliched, find a better one. |
| 3:32.0 | See if you can find one with a more exact meaning and the right connotation. |
