We just read our last story in our season of Japanese fairy tales.

I hope you enjoyed this unusual selection of fables for a pleasure to bring them to

you.

is your recap.

Our last tale was entitled, Momotaro, or the story of the son of a peach.

We were introduced to an old couple who had sadly had no children in their life together.

They still worked hard every day to earn enough to look after themselves.

One day, the wife was washing by the river when a giant peach tumbled past her down the

stream.

She followed in and managed to fish her out of the water in order to gift it to her

husband who loved peaches.

She was indeed surprised at the size of the fruit, but as they cut it in half, outstabbed

a beautiful little boy who told them he had been sent as their son.

They cared for the child as their own until one day when he was 15 years of age, he asked

to leave them for a time.

They must go on a quest to defeat the demons who terrorized the country.

The father knew he was a special boy and wouldn't ask if it wasn't necessary, and so they

let him go.

He traveled across the country, picking up a small army of worthy animals to help him
