Hello and welcome to the sleepy bookshelf, where we put down our worries from the day and pick up a good book.

In our last episode, we read the final pages of Anne's House of Dreams.

Captain Jim went to the post office every morning in September

to see if the life book had been published and sent to him yet.

On the one day he hadn't gone, Leslie collected his copy for him, and her and Anne took it to him at the light.

His face radiated with youth when he saw it for the first time, and he

was eager to read it front to back that very evening. But he insisted his guests stay for tea.

His nephew's mother had sent cake, and he wished to share it with them.

The next morning, at sunrise, Anne was woken by Gilbert, fully dressed. The light had not been

extinguished. A task Captain Jim was fastidious about, as soon as the dawn broke.

They feared the worst, and Anne called Susan to look after Little Gem when he worked,

so she could accompany Gilbert.

It was the most beautiful morning anyone could imagine.
