I will continue. After returning to the seminary, Miss Minchin stayed in her rooms all afternoon,

listening as Miss Amelia gained enough courage to pull her

sister up on her ruthless behaviour towards Sarah.

Ermengarde received a letter from Sarah telling her what had happened, and soon the whole

school was in uproar. Becky climbed the Garrett stairs, already missing her

friend, and found Ram Dass in Sarah's room. He told her that Sarah had requested Becky be her

special attendant, and for Becky to pack her things and prepare to move

in next door in the morning.

In time, Sarah became the best of friends with the large family children, or the Carmichael's,

as they were properly known.

They delighted in her stories, even in the sad state of the attic rooms,

wondering at Sarah's intimate acquaintance with the Sparrows and, of course, Malkisadek.

One day, Sarah was thinking about the little beggar girl outside the bakers that day, whom she had donated her buns to.
