Good morning, everyone. I'm Kate Baldwin. It's Monday, March 30th. Here are the five things you need to know to start your day.

Number one, the Iran negotiations. Pakistan now says that it hopes to host talks in the coming days between the United States and Iran to bring to an end the war which has now stretched beyond 30 days.

And President Trump claims that Iran has already agreed to most of the 15-point plan the U.S. has presented,

a plan that's believed to include demands like reopening the Strait of Formuz and Iran handing over its highly enriched uranium.

They gave us most of the points. Why wouldn't they? I would only say that we're doing extremely well in that negotiation.

But you never know with Iran because we negotiate with them and then we always have to blow them up.

But it is also not clear that any real negotiating is actually taking place.

President Trump just told the Financial Times that he's still thinking about sending in ground

troops to seize Iran's Kark Island and that he wants to, quote, take the oil in Iran.

The island handles 90% of Iran's oil exports, and White House officials believe taking control

of those reserves could bankrupt Iran's Revolutionary Guard.

U.S. Marines are now in position for a potential operation.

3,500 sailors and Marines arrived in the Middle East over the weekend on board the USS Tripoli.

And the Wall Street Journal is reporting the president is considering

deploying 10,000 more troops. All of this is pushing the price of crude oil up once again to

start this week. Number two, the paychecks TSA workers could start seeing money in the bank as soon as

today after working without pay

now for nearly 50 days. This is not because Congress got its act together. It still has

definitely not. The president instead stepped in, signing an executive order calling for workers

to get paid using any money with a quote, reasonable and logical nexus to TSA operations,

and likely using funds from the sweeping Republican spending bill passed last year.

At this point, they need to find about a billion dollars in back pay.
