Summary

Welcome, welcome, welcome to episode 305 of the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip! WELCOME OFFICIALLY TO 2020 FOLKS! Yeah you were with the gang for the DrunkCasts but this is the first proper jam for the new year and as custom dictates, here is Pip with the rundown of his year's favourite films (of 2019 of course). No it's not a list of THE definitive best films of 2019, nor is it this objective list of best films which wipes out your own list of films for 2019 - this is Pip's list, so don't take it personal - just have a peep and feel free to agree or disagree at will! Whatever happens, it's a great ride and you'll hear all kinds of interesting points of view. This does start off with a mild downer though, spoiler alert - but is all handled with positivity and calmness and turns out okay. Just to warn ya. Anyway - enjoy and have a good'un, and please, travel safe and smooth this year. Let's make it a goodie, y'all. ENJOY!

recording of the New Year and the new decade. It is my annual films of the year list.

0:16.3

I'm recording this. It is a brisk New Year's Day. It's about 20 past eight and I'm out.

0:25.2

Oh God, I should have won different trainers. I'm out taking a walk to record this for you guys.

0:32.9

It's a beautiful day. This is the first new recorded episode. The first guest of the year is coming on Wednesday.

0:39.5

Or the first podcast was the last drunk cast. The first guest of the year is coming on Wednesday and it's Karl Pilkinton.

0:47.1

Good God. How exciting. It's a wonderful one. But yeah, a lot of you will have been asking when this one's coming out.

0:56.4

It's now the tradition to record it on New Year's Day. Which means it's become a tradition. I mean, I've

1:02.8

recorded it as I'm going for a walk as I said last year for Adam Bucksdon. Brick Goldstein enjoyed it last

1:09.8

year because he felt the start of the walk before I got to my sit down point was mainly me

1:16.2

heavy breathing into his ear to kick the New Year off. So happy New Year, Brick.

1:28.3

Also has now become tradition with this recording. Is that I tell you about my New Year's Eve?

1:34.8

Because many of you know my tradition on New Year's is that I stay at home. I cook myself a steak

1:41.8

and I watch a film that I've selected some time before. Didn't happen this year. There was,

1:49.9

it got derailed. So I thought I'd tell you about that. I got home on the night before New Year's Eve.

1:59.0

I got home from London about quarter to midnight to find that my house had been broken into.

2:05.7

And yeah, it was not pleasant experience. It affected me far more than I would have predicted.

2:14.9

I got in, I said I realized I'd been broken into. I called my dad who lives nearby. I called the police.

2:23.0

My dad came round and I was kind of out the front with a weapon.

2:30.1

Because I said I was surprised with how it hit me or shook me. I hadn't gone upstairs yet

2:38.8

because I was concerned that there might still be someone there and I didn't want to go up on my own.

2:44.5

So my dad came round and he came up with me. There was no one there.
