the tape because as shitty as it was, I did learn things. We did learn things. And look, man,

0:04.9

the Giants offense, we'll start with the offense. It was tough to watch, especially in the first

0:09.8

half. They got some things going. I felt like Brian Dable started to condense the formation a little

0:15.0

bit and release Malik neighbors underneath Theo Johnson and the inner receivers when Malik

0:19.8

neighbors was that number one,

0:21.1

that outside receiver in a condensed formation, or if it wasn't a stack, which the Giants

0:25.4

were also employing, I would say adequately in the second half.

0:30.6

But why did it take so long?

0:32.8

And this is something that was great against man coverage, but even in zone coverage since

0:36.9

the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were crowding the line of scrimmage so much. They have like seven, eight guys on line of scrimmage when they were bailing and they weren't blitzing and they blitzed a lot. But when they were bailing and they weren't blitzing, usually the underneath route, if it ran underneath a pick route by Theo Johnson, a la what Malik neighbors did a lot in the second half, those bailing defenders off the line of scrimmage bailed to a depth where Malik neighbors had plenty of space to catch the football underneath. So the Giants were able to matriculate the football down the field in that manner. And it was an adjustment that Brian Daible made. But it's like, why do we need that adjustment in the second half? Like, why that happened in the first half at all? And even in the second, again, even in the second half, when they're able to establish a drive, you're like, oh, well, mistakes, mistakes in the red zone. It's the same thing over and over again with this team. I will say, though, there was a play, and I think we're going to see it

1:28.0

where Tommy DeVito missed Jalen Hyatt in the honeyhole. It was a cover two defense. You had the safety playing middle of the field closed pre-snap, and then they shifted to a cover two. Jailen Hyatt was wide open, even though the flat defender gained a little bit of depth, which deterred Tommy DeVito and I think he checked the football down to Eric Gray. But I did like how in the

1:27.9

second half, that same exact coverage was on the field. Tommy DeVito diagnosed it. And then he threw a pass to Malik Neighbors perfectly placed. Malik neighbors climbed the ladder, grabbed it. And that was the first play of the third quarter, first play of the second half for the New York Giants. And I think that is, and I know I'm talking a lot right now, but that might be what Brian Dable meant, but when he said Tommy DeVito will throw with anticipation, because there were a couple anticipatory throws. And I think Davido has a very quick release. But we're talking about a few. And everything needs to be processed in Tommy DeVito's mind for that to happen. And to me, it's not necessarily that innate quarterbacking skills that Daniel Jones lack. Tommy DeVito lacks that too because there are other quarterbacks who will see that so much quicker and it will be out. If Tommy DeVito knows it pre to post, it can be out. And he has that quick release, which maximizes that. But how often is that then? That's the issue. He's not often seeing it pre to post, it can be out. And he has that quick release, which maximizes that, but how often is

2:34.5

that then? That's the issue. He's not often seeing it pre to post. And in addition to that, I felt like, and I mentioned this on a previous, but I don't know which one will come out when, but I felt like there was a lot more lock on, even than with Jones from this quarterback in this game. And I don't think he used his eyes or his helmet, the stripe of his helmet to move defenders at all really

2:33.9

well in this game. I thought that was he used his eyes or his helmet the stripe of his helmet to move defenders at all really well in this game I thought that was a big issue I thought that stuff I've

2:55.5

seen now for we're going on dude since 20 like almost two full years of since that Eagles game

3:01.6

where the Giants were exposed as an offense under Brian dable you know the Eagles division around game where teams are just playing one high or, you know, everyone around the line of scrimmage, no safeties, no DBs at depth. Everybody's eyes are always around the sticks driving. There was so much of that, especially in the first half from Tampa where they're just fucking daring the Giants to beat them downfield. And there's no counter. We've never had a counter. And I understand how hard it is to coach a game with Tommy DeVito, and I really do believe it is.

3:07.6

I don't believe he should be starting in the NFL. I want to make that clear after watching the tape. And I shouldn't have never felt any kind of confidence at all. I didn't really, but I should never even felt the glimmer of hope based on what happened last year on tape, which wasn't even good.

3:41.3

He had some touchdowns randomly.

3:42.6

And like you said, there are moments for him. It's not like there's no moments on this tape. There are moments, like you said, where it looks like he's got a quick release. He's thrown with anticipation. He can change arm slots at time and make interesting throws. But it's the overall product, which is so much worse. And the best way to describe it, Nick, is this.

3:38.6

The Giants entered this game coming out of the bye week.

3:42.1

Sixth best in the NFL in plays per drive. Now, their issue was they didn't have explosive plays. And they didn't throw touchdown passes with Jones in the red zone or out of the red zone. But at least Jones wasn't with Jones on the field, they weren't punting as much. Now they're not scoring in the red zone. They're not throwing explosive plays down the field. And they're punting a lot. They're not their average of place per drive on offense came way down in this game. And that's a big issue moving forward for this team as we see the locker room start to collapse. Because I'm not sold that Tommy DeVito can move an NFL offense to any degree at all,

4:32.2

really. And I would love to see Locke in there at this point. I'm done because to me, I have no hope that DeVito can be a QB2 long term. I don't care how cheap he is. I don't want this guy ever playing for the Giants in a real game in a real season. Say the Giants are six and three, Nick, and their quarterback gets hurt.
