82% of voters oppose the Republican push to cut social security for Americans under 50.

This is what Reagan did, and it worked for him, and so they think they can do it again.

Well, Reagan did was, when he came into office, he said, you know, we want to cut social security,

one of the easiest ways to cut it is by raising the retirement age from 65 up to 67.

But we're not going to do it for the people who are about to retire because they'll get pissed off

and they won't vote for Republicans. In fact, we're not even going to do it for the people who are

going to retire in 20 years because they're still voters too, they're going to get pissed off.

We're going to do it for the people who are like in their 20s and 30s.

And we're going to do it, we're going to do it on young people because they're not paying

attention to social security and they don't care. And sure enough, that's what he did in 1986 or

maybe it was 83 with his commission, his the Greenspan commission, is they recommended that Congress

pass legislation and Reagan promoted it and signed it that raised the retirement age for

social security from 65 to 67. It just took effect last year or the year before.

Ronald Reagan did this to us 40 years ago. So now the Republicans think that they can do this again
