This morning, we're going to go back in time

to talk about a tiny place in Eastern Europe that could become key to the war that's now raging

across Ukraine. Geographically, Transnistria is a region in eastern Moldova. It's located between

the Nista River in the west and the Ukrainian border in the

east. The area encompassing Transnistria and present-day Moldova was taken by the Soviet Union

during the early part of World War II. It was then captured by the Axis powers and
