Summary

EP302. I was so fascinated by the comments and absolute chaos that the video of afternoon tea with mom and memere caused that I had to talk it out with one of my fave psychologists. Dr. Tracy and I discuss the great scrunchie incident of 2023. She tells us what being triggered means, why it happens, why we should be looking inward, and so much more! Dr. Tracy also tells us about her new book that will be out September 12th!

Is drinking raw milk safe like RFK Jr. suggests? Can you reduce a glucose spike if you eat your food in, quote, unquote, the right order? I'm registered dietitian Abby Sharp. I host a nutrition myth-busting podcast called Bite Back with Abby Sharp. And those are just some of the questions I tackle with qualified experts on my show.

There is so much food misinformation and disinformation out there, and it can feel impossible

to know what's real and what's BS.

On Biteback, my goal is to help listeners create a pleasurable relationship with food,

0:35.3

their body, and themselves, which in my opinion is the

fundamental secret to good health. Listen to bite back wherever you get your podcasts.

Okay, welcome to a not so typical episode, but I feel like I'm going to start doing things like this more often, just kind of last minute, like, hey, you guys want to chat about this, and then putting it in my solo episode day, like on Thursdays.

So we are talking today about the scrunchy that broke the internet.

1:16.4

So just a little bit of background. I'm sure everybody knows what I'm talking about, but my

1:22.1

mom and my ma'amare and I were at Kensington Palace in London. And we were like, oh, let's go do the

1:29.0

afternoon tea. So we were stressing, even before we left to go to London, that was the one thing

1:37.5

that was kind of stressing us out because we're like, we don't know what to wear. Like my mom was

1:41.4

looking up, you know, rules online for what you can and cannot wear to afternoon

1:47.2

tea in London but in the back of my mind I was always like my mom and my mammaire are very much like

1:53.8

that like they're very concerned about like being underdressed or not wearing something appropriate

2:00.4

always like my whole life. And so it

2:02.9

kind of rubs off on me as well. But I know in the back of my mind, this is going to be a touristy place.

2:08.4

And there's probably going to be people in like shorts and Birkenstocks. Like, let's be honest.

2:13.1

It's, it's not going to be a typical afternoon tea that, you know, actual royalty, you know, wealthy

2:20.9

Londoners go to. So anyways, we, that's kind of like the backstory. And if people were

2:29.3

watching my stories on Instagram, they know that we were having these, you know, debates about afternoon tea
