Summary

Carleigh Ferrante from the Mostly Dating Podcast is back again to discuss the joys and challenges of dating, relationships, and growing into yourself. We talk about how creative date ideas can deepen connection, why maintaining individuality in relationships is essential, and how navigating different life timelines doesn’t have to create distance between partners. We unpack the importance of open communication, embracing change, and staying grounded in who you are—even in love.

0:08.4

I know.

0:09.2

I know I said this to two minutes ago, but I feel like we see each other like once a year,

0:13.6

and it feels like it was a week ago.

0:15.6

Yeah.

0:16.2

And so much has changed, but also everything's the same.

0:18.5

Yeah, every time so much has changed, but it feels the same. Last time was when I had just started doing solo podcasting and I, like, called you frantically for advice. We just gone to Tacombie. Yeah. So this is our annual little podcast. I love it. We need to make it like bi-annual at least. Yeah. But what's been new with you? What's been new? Was I, I, I don't think I was married yet. I think you were married one night when we did like a just me solo recording. Oh yeah, you came over. Yeah, I recorded from your couch. Yeah, we did that. Which everyone was probably seen on Instagram. This is very true. What's new with me is like, honestly nothing. Yeah. I feel like I really, the last few months have been like chilling.

0:57.5

Yeah. What's new with me is like honestly nothing. I feel like I really, the last few months have been like chilling.

0:58.3

Yeah.

1:04.3

Saying no to plans that I know I'm not going to want to do the day of.

1:12.2

Like making less plans in general, got really into puzzling and reading and just like these like little hobbies that are kind of weird. But I like it. I feel like you still like coloring. Yes. Yeah. I do. I actually went to color me mine. Have you done color me mind? No. What is that? Oh my God. It's like pottery painting studio. So you go and you pick out your piece of pottery, like the pottery is already made. and they have like a hundred colors and like you basically paint whatever you want. Oh, that's so cool. Yeah. Wait, is it like vases and stuff? Yeah, whatever you want. I made. I've gone twice in the last like two months. I made a mug the first time with paw prints on it. And it's like my favorite mug ever. I'm so obsessed and I'm really

1:44.7

proud of it. And so I went back this past week and made a dog wool to match it for Berkeley. Do you go with friends or with Jake? No, with friends. Yeah. That's so fun. Jake like would go if I really wanted him to, but like I don't need to force him to go. I feel like Sean would be forcing me to go. that sounds up his alley he's like very arty we can do a double date and you and jake can just like

2:04.3

come along I feel like Sean would be forcing me to go. That sounds up his alley. He's like very artsy. We can do a double date and you and Jake can just like do something else. Like no matter what it is, whether it's like drawing, painting, like any maybe pottery things like that, anything artistic, I'm just like not good at. Like I can do have fun with it or you're like, it's fun. But like even like my handwriting is terrible. Like anything that's like aesthetics, I'm just not going to. That's funny. Wait, this is actually interesting. Do you guys like have a lot of the same hobbies and interests or are they different? Because I posted a video last week of me puzzling while Jake was watching March Madness. Oh, I saw that. And it went so viral and people are like, this is amazing. Because I feel like there's such a big narrative out there of like you need to find like the person who wants to do every single thing that you want to do. And like that's not really true. Yeah. If anything, I feel like it's like a red flag. If you have all the same hobbies and you need to do everything together. Because like you just said, you do that with your friends or like you're doing your own thing while he's watching his sports. Like I feel like that almost like forces separation in a relationship, which like you kind of need to have. Yeah. We don't have. I'm trying to think. I'm like, what are my hobbies? But no, it's like he was a hockey player.

3:08.8

So like last night he was like watching all the hockey games and I'm just like reading. And like, but my sister and I were just joking about this that like we feel like she was saying she feels like her husband. And I was like, oh my God, Sean does this too. Like I feel like they get mad when I read. Wait, really? Like, not mad, but it's like they want to watch something on TV and like they want to watch one of our together, like the shows we watch together. And it's like, oh, are you going to read tonight? And we were like cracking up. We were like, is tonight going to be a reading night? Like it's like something we're doing that's wrong. No, that's fair. That'll happen to me too sometimes where like Jake will really want to watch a show. and I'm like, I can't stare at a screen anymore, even though I read on the Kindle.

3:44.3

So I'm still staring on a screen, but it's different. It's different. What are you reading right now? I actually am in between books. So I just finished the, what's it called? Society of Lies. Have you read it? No, I haven't. It was good. It wasn't like amazing. I gave it a three on Goodrease. Okay, then I'm not going to add it to mine. We have to follow these rather.

4:01.5

Yeah. Society of Lies. Have you read it? No, I haven't. It was good. It wasn't like amazing. I gave it a three on good reads. Okay, then I'm not going to add it to mine. We have to follow these rather on good reads. I just finished the things we leave unfinished. Oh, is it good? Incredible. Like one of the best books I've ever read. Okay. Very, very good. I started, this is a weird thing that I did, I started Harry Potter. Oh, I love

4:16.3

Harry Potter. Two nights ago. Have you read it though? No. What? And like I've seen not all

4:21.4

the movies. I've seen some of the movies. And like I've obviously seen like Sorcerer

4:25.9

Stone and Chamber of Secrets like way too many times. So I'm like a third of the way through Sorcercerer Stone.

4:32.3

And I'm finding it hard because, A, like at the end of the day, it's a children's book.
