In Missouri, officers conducted a welfare check and found a man dead with the hatchet still in his head.

In Michigan, prosecutors announced charges against a man a month after his ex-girlfriend went missing.

And in Oregon, sheriff's deputies responded to a reported car crash and found a man unresponsive.

However, in the trunk of the car, they found a woman dead from an apparent

gunshot wound. All of this coming at you right now. Here, on Sword and Scale Daily.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, January 28th, the Webster Grove Police Department in Missouri received a request for a welfare check.

The information that officers received was the 64-year-old Peter Fox hadn't shown up for work

for a couple of days, which was out of character, and as such,

his employer had become concerned. Officers responded to Peter's home on South Old Orchard

Avenue to perform said welfare check. At first, they were unable to garner a response, but after

some time looking around the property, they were able to gain entry into the home. After making

their way inside, officers

made an unfortunate, gruesome discovery. A man was found dead on the couch with a hatchet firmly

stuck in his head. The victim was found to be Peter Fox. Based on the evidence at the scene,

including blood spatter in multiple rooms of the home, they had determined that a horrific struggle had taken place.

As homicide investigators were responding to the scene,

officers began clearing the home and found a man unconscious, in a back bedroom.

He was awoken and found to be highly intoxicated.

The man was later identified as 58-year-old Timothy Fox, the victim's brother.

At the time of his detainment, Timothy was reported as saying, quote,
