Senate Majority Leader John Thune announced yesterday that the Senate will vote this week on its budget blueprint that would advance a huge part of President Donald Trump's legislative agenda in the form of that reconciliation bill that is going to target border, energy, and defense policy. That means a couple things. First, we're buckling in for 50 hours of Senate debate on the

budget resolution, which would then be followed by a long process that we all know as voter

when any senator can offer any amendment of their choosing and force a vote on it before the

final vote on the budget. Second, it puts the Senate ahead of the House as Republicans in the two chambers race to advance their competing budget plans.

The House is planning to vote on its own blueprint next week.

Headed down the street to the White House, yesterday President Trump signed a sweeping executive order that would further expand his power by bringing independent agencies under the purview of the White House.
