On Monday, a California jury found 59-year-old Carl Carlson guilty of the 1991 murder of his

first wife, 30-year-old Christina Carlson.

According to Syracuse.com, Carlson is already serving a sentence of 15 years to life in

New York State after pleading guilty to the 2008 murder of 23-year-old Levi Carlson,

his and Christina's son.

Carl purchased life insurance policies for both victims shortly before their deaths and

collected a $700,000 payment for his sons and a $200,000 payment for his wife's.

In 1991, Carl and Christina, originally from New York, lived in Murphy, California with

their three children.

People who knew the couple described the relationship as controlling and said that Christina was always

on edge around Carl.
