So this week I want to share an episode from a podcast I think you'll enjoy called Proxy.

It's hosted by Yo-A. Shaw, who spent years making the NPR show Invisibilia.

In 2023, she got laid off, and she found herself spiraling over a question she couldn't shake.

Why did she feel so ashamed?

Like it was her fault when she knew that it wasn't.

The question became the seed of her new show.

Proxy is built on a simple idea.

No one is ever completely alone with their problem, because somewhere out there

is someone who's lived something close enough to help you feel a little less stuck. On the show,

Yo-Awe brings together strangers wrestling with the same hard questions and lets them sit with

those questions honestly without rushing toward easy answers.

The cases can get pretty thorny, like family estrangement, or what do you do when your wife

comes out as queer and leaves you? But they can also be these funny little weird problems,

like the woman whose internal narrator never shuts up.

In today's episode, Yo-Wei talks with a pair of bandmates and best friends who can't figure

out why they haven't been able to finish their record for years. It's a story about friendship,

loyalty, and the quiet heartbreak of realizing that something you love that once held you
