Welcome back to this bonus episode of the evolution of horror.

My name is Mike Munter and as ever I am your host.

If you're tuning in for the first time, then welcome, usually on this podcast we explore

and dissect the history and the evolution of the horror genre by looking at a particular

sub-jummer as one series at a time.

Usually we put out an episode every Friday and we are currently in the middle of our alien

and sci-fi horror series.

However, this week we are bringing you the first in a trilogy of bonus crossover episodes

to coincide with the release of R.L. Stine's Fear Street movies, which are all getting

released on Netflix this month.

It's a trilogy of movies, the first one called 1994, dropped just this weekend on Netflix.

Part 2, called 1978, drops next weekend, that's the 9th of July, and part 3, called 1666,

drops the Friday after on July 16th.

Now the fact that these are new horror movies but are also based on kind of YA horror fiction

from the early 90s felt like this was the perfect opportunity to collaborate with my good

friends Becky Dark and Jill Nolan, the co-hosts of Don't Point That Horror at Me, a fantastic

podcast which looks at specifically the Point Horror books from the early 90s, many of

which were written by R.L. Stine.

So what you're about to hear is a spoiler-free review of the first Fear Street movie.
