| 0:47.8 | verse 27. I don't know about you, but I just love Proverbs because they're so simple and they're |
| 0:53.2 | so clear into the point most of the time. And they help us just think of one specific simple topic |
| 1:00.8 | and to go deeper on it. Today is Proverbs 10 27, one verse, and it says, the fear of the Lord |
| 1:07.9 | prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short. Now, if we keep in mind that Proverbs |
| 1:15.2 | are meant to be very practical, this proverb in particular comes to life for me because the fear of |
| 1:22.8 | the Lord is a way of saying our sense of respect for the Lord given who he is. So we're recognizing |
| 1:31.6 | his awesomeness, his rulership and authority over all of creation, all the universe. He is the |
| 1:38.2 | ruler. He is the one who sets the rules, both rules of nature, like the law of gravity and rules |
| 1:45.0 | for human behavior, like the Old Testament law or like the moral law that we find in the 10 |
| 1:50.4 | commandments. And you see, God's ways are the best ways because God is perfect and he's all knowing |
| 1:56.5 | and he's all wise and he's super loving. You see, all these things make it where his position is |
| 2:03.0 | one to be respected and his person is a person to be respected. That's what the fear of the Lord |
| 2:10.4 | really is about. And when we align our hearts with his and submit to his teaching and his |
| 2:16.8 | guidance in life, we are said to be fearing the Lord. So when we have all that under our belts |
