A killer linked to a series of murders that shook Virginia in the 80s has now been connected to two more

killings. Kathleen Thomas and Rebecca Dowski were lasting together October 9, 1986. Their bodies

found strangled and stabbed to death in Thomas's Honda Civic along the colonial highway. The case went cold

until last week when the FBI pinned the murders on Alan Wade Wilmer, who worked as a fisherman.

Investigators say modern forensic testing in recent years has allowed them to connect Wilmer to the murders and disappearances of at least six young people known as the Colonial Parkway murders. Wilmer is also linked to the murders of 20-year-old David Knobling, 14-year-old Robin Edwards, and 29-year-old Teresa Lynn Spopp Howell. Knobling and Edwards were found shot to death on the shoreline of a wildlife management area in 1987. Edwards had been sexually assaulted. Howell was discovered dead outside of a club in Hampton.
