Psalm chapter 68 verse 5 father of the fatherless

and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. I love this Psalm. Psalm 68 from the very beginning

is an awesome and I don't use that word lightly,

an awesome depiction of God in all of his glory

on the move.

That's how I would describe this whole psalm.

The first verse, God shall arise,

his enemies shall be scattered,

and basically the whole psalm is a picture of God in all of his glory working and moving on behalf of his people.

Verse 19 bearing us up amidst the burdens of this life working defending protecting providing

for us all the way to the very last verse,

awesome is God from his sanctuary.

He's the one who gives power and strength to his people.

So in that context, we come to verse five that tells us God this awesome God and all of

his glory is father of the fatherless and protector of widows. This is who God is in his holy habitation, he is father of the fatherless and protector of widows.

Is that not beautiful?

How God shows his power, his strength, his love, specifically on behalf of children

in need, on behalf of orphans and vulnerable children and on behalf of

widows. And we see this all over the Bible, over and over and over again.

God makes it clear that he cares for, loves, provides for,
