It's Saturday, November 2nd, three days before the election.

We usually talk about fascism in an intellectual way,

describing it as an ideology, a set of beliefs,

and then we argue about which beliefs are to be included

and who is or is not a fascist. But I've seen fascism happen

right in front of my face and it's not an intellectual activity. It's an emotional activity,

an emotional journey that people take where they go in as individuals and come out as members of a gang. I think

fascism is deep in our bones, going way back before we were human beings. It's the adaptation of

gang warfare. Even the word itself, fascism, comes from the Latin word that translates as a bunch of sticks

bound together with a rope, meaning one stick alone is weak and easy to break, but many sticks

tied together can be very strong.

Ants gang up, wolves and chimps gang up, but for us it is an art form.

Fascism happens as catharsis, a release of deep emotions through drama, through telling a story.

It's the performance of a myth that has the narrative arc of a requiem, beginning with a death and ending with a resurrection.

The Requiem for America goes like this. The first movement makes us cry right away because the music reminds us how good things used to be back in the beginning when God

created America to be the best country in the history of the world and he gave us the American way of

life which is like the most beautiful thing God ever created next to the baby Jesus. We remember when we had

this beautiful thing that we loved very much, but now it's gone. We lost it and our hearts are

broken. Then in the second movement, we become angry, very angry when we see who is the blame.

We didn't lose the American way of life. It was taken from us, stolen by bad people,

evil people who chose not to walk the path of God. They took the American way of life

and smothered it in lies and corruption,
