Summary

Host Ian Hartitz breaks down the fantasy football value of the Bills backfield ahead of the 2021 season. Basically everything went right for this Bills offense in 2020, except for enabling a fantasy-friendly running back. This doesn't mean either Devin Singletary or Zack Moss are bad; they each boast their fair share of strengths and weaknesses like any other professional running back. Rather, Josh Allen's tendencies to scramble and not check the ball down has made it tough for any running back to thrive in Buffalo since 2018. The good news for Moss: he might just have a pretty damn good chance of taking over in 2021, and his cost is affordable as hell. Ian concludes the podcast with Moss and Singletary's specific fantasy ranking as well as a rIANt about people caring too much about being verified on Twitter.

I'm your host, Dean Hartitz. And today we continue the fantasy file series with a look. This Buffalo

0:15.5

bills backfield, Zach Moss, Devon Singletary, Matt Breeda now no longer TJ Yeldon. So look, looking

0:22.5

back at the 2020 bills, there's like nothing to be mad about. This team was one win away from

0:27.6

going into the Super Bowl, number two ranked scoring offense, Josh Allen MVP runner up.

0:32.4

It's a great time to be alive. You know, it will keep the whole thing optimistic. But

0:37.2

particularly to be a bills fan. And I think the only one thing if we wanted to really,

0:42.9

you know, want to really be a dick here, the one negative from the 2020 bills was the fact they

0:47.6

could not enable a consistent running back. And it doesn't make sense because again, they check

0:53.7

all these boxes they had an MVP candidate quarterback. They had the number two ranked scoring offense.

0:58.2

In terms of point differential, only the Ravens, the Saints, the Packers and the Buccaneers

1:03.1

were more dominant than the bills during the regular season. So we had a great offense. Now,

1:07.5

it's consistently up on the scoreboard, winning a bunch of games. And we just didn't get anything

1:12.4

out of these running backs in fancy land. Overall, at the end of the season, Devon Singletary was the

1:17.5

PPR RB32, despite playing all 16 games, Zach Moss owned the RB48 playing 13 games. So,

1:24.8

you know, what went wrong, not exactly on these running backs in particular, as we always talk

1:29.3

about on here, volume tends to trump talent. And it's not like they just couldn't do anything with

1:34.5

their chances. I mean, Zach Moss basically emerged as, you know, I don't want to say a poor man's

1:39.6

three down back. He basically, he can do whatever you wanted to do on all three downs. This was from

1:44.4

our 2020 NFL draft guide on Moss. Moss takes pretty much every box you'd like to see at the running

1:50.2

back position, except for speed. He's got the size, vision, hands, and especially elusiveness.

1:54.9

He's also been above average in past protection consistently over the course of his career. While

1:58.6

he's on the older side, 22 years old already, we're not really drafting for anything after the
