Summary

Time for Fan Mail Friday, where we'll be answering your questions and dropping some knowledge and feedback to help you kick the weekend off right. Let's cut to it! In this episode: Is quitting something stable you hate to do something risky you've always wanted to do -- with no promise of success -- worth it? Do you tough it out and try to have a good attitude at your current job -- with which you have ethical and professional issues -- until you can go full time on your side hustle, or do you acknowledge the problems and find another job in the meantime? What's an effective, reasonable, yet not terribly costly way to learn a foreign language? The disgruntled educator who wrote to us in Fan Mail Friday 78 reports back with a very encouraging update. You're in the process of making legitimate personal improvements since you and your significant other -- with whom you have children -- had a hard breakup. You want to get back together, but the feeling doesn't seem to be mutual. Can they be actively won back, or should you just give them space and hope absence will make the heart grow fonder? Quick shoutouts to Nev Medhora -- former guest and listener of AoC -- and Ivan Ivanovic who lives in Switzerland by way of Serbia! I'm 23 and have been working in the quality control lab for a pharmaceutical company for over a year.

After school I worked at a hop farm for a month harvesting and processing the hops

until I finally interviewed and got a position as a glorified janitor at the pharmaceutical

company that I now work for. I was able to save some money and move into a new place without my

parents and have saved up quite a bit since that time. I was promoted to working on the bench and

have been promised to develop from low-level instruments to chromatography testing.

This was six months ago and now the girl I've trained to do my position is busy while I'm waiting for

someone to take me on. I've come to resent this line of work and have been trying to find out a

way to do anything but work in a quality control lab. The work actually stresses me out because no

one is motivated and it zaps my ability to learn and grow. It doesn't help that the work is repetitive
